Moving to a new home is a big adventure, especially in a place as historic as San Juan Capistrano. Between unpacking boxes and finding where you put the coffee mugs, those first two days can be a little hectic. At The Hudes Group, we want to help you settle in like a local. Here is your quick guide to surviving—and enjoying—your first 48 hours in "SJC."
Step 1: Find Your Morning Fuel
Every successful move starts with caffeine. For a truly local experience, head to the Los Rios Historic District and visit Hidden House Coffee. It’s located in a charming yellow cottage from the 1800s. If you need a full breakfast to get through more boxes, Ellie’s Table is just down the street and serves amazing pastries and egg dishes that the whole family will love.
Step 2: Master the Grocery Run
You are going to need to stock your new fridge fast! If you are shopping on a Saturday, the Trader Joe’s on Ortega Highway is a fan favorite, but it can get very crowded. For a faster trip with shorter lines, try the Ralphs in the Del Obispo shopping center. It’s usually much quieter on weekend mornings, helping you get back to your new home in record time.
Step 3: Let the Kids Explore
If the house feels too small with all the bubble wrap, it’s time for a "park break." Los Rios Park is a must-visit. It has a "Wild West" themed playground that kids adore. Right next door is Zoomars at River Street Ranch, where kids can pet guinea pigs, ride a train, and even mine for gold. It’s the perfect way to reward them for a long day of moving.
The Hudes Edge: Your Secret Map
We don’t just hand you the keys; we help you find your way around. Every client of The Hudes Group receives a "New Neighbor" kit. Inside, you’ll find custom maps to the best amenities in San Juan Capistrano—from the hidden entrances to the San Juan Creek Trail to the best spots to see the famous swallows return.
Welcome home! We are so happy to have you in our beautiful, historic community.
